Go Out Game - video training tip by Janice Gunn

This is a game I play with my dogs using their VERY favorite toy, the flirt pole. All three dogs are on the training floor with me at the same time. By doing this, I build competition against each dog as they love the flirt pole release and want their turn to do the go out so they can play with the toy.

I am building drive for the go out in this exercise and my dogs become faster at doing it. At the same time, I am working on their impulse control and strengthening their stays. Drive building is an important component of my obedience training and impulse control balances that drive, they go hand in hand.

It is also important to reward the dogs that are holding their stays while the other dog is having FUN as this in itself is a very difficult exercise that needs to be reinforced.

Happy Training!
